Mid-America Signs Total Hockey to Plaza Del Prado

Two other Chicagoland shopping centers gain restaurants

GLENVIEW, Ill. (March 3, 2010) – Total Hockey signed a lease for 8,031 square feet at Plaza Del Prado in Glenview, a North Shore suburb of Chicago. The hockey equipment retailer is expected to open in summer 2010, according to Richard Spinell, Principal for Mid-America Asset Management, Inc., which is the exclusive leasing representative for the 129,112 square-foot shopping center.

Privately held Total Hockey is headquartered in St. Louis, with a total of seven locations in Missouri and Illinois. The store at Plaza del Prado will be its fourth location in Chicagoland. Mid-America Vice President Marget Graham and Senior Leasing Representative Kitsy Ritter represented the landlord in the transaction, while Brent Wayburn of Metro Commercial Real Estate represented the tenant.

Plaza Del Prado is located on the southeast corner of Willow and Pfingsten Roads, and is anchored by Jewel/Osco, Sam Martirano International and Snow Bird Ski Shop.

TWO RESTAURANT LEASES

In other Mid-America leasing news, Piper’s Alley in Chicago gains Chipotle Mexican Grill with a lease for 2,823 square feet. The Denver-based franchise is expected to open in summer of 2010. Mid-America Senior Leasing Representative Kitsy Ritter represented the landlord in the transaction, while the tenant was represented by Adam Secher at Baum. The 134,348 square-foot, four-story center is located on the northwest corner of Wells Street and North Avenue, and is anchored by Loews Theatre, Xsport Fitness, Starbucks, and Fleet Feet Sports.

Canton Asian Bistro signed a lease for 2,005 square feet at West Aurora Plaza, located on 2009 W. Galena Blvd., in Aurora, Ill. This is the second location for the locally-based independent restaurant, which plans to open at the center in the spring.  Mid-America Vice President Barb Kading and Senior Leasing Representative Katie Hennegan handled the lease on behalf of the landlord, dealing directly with the tenant. The 209,474 square-foot West Aurora Plaza is anchored by Wal-Mart.
